Clwb y Werin

The club came into being when the Hall was opened over twenty years ago in April 2002 for older people who are lonely and need company. It has been difficult to start again but this was arranged for Tuesday 5th of October 2022 when seven members, with three new faces among them, came to the hall.

The Club meets on Tuesday afternoons at 1.30 o'clock, for approximately two hours, in a lovely, light and warm room, at a cost of £2 per person, which is a contribution to the costs of the Hall. The Club is bilingual and you have the opportunity to play games of your choice, with scrabble being a favorite in both languages, as well as cards, dominoes, drafts, or a game of your choice. A cup of tea and biscuits will be available about half way through the afternoon and a game of bingo to finish.

There is a raffle available for 50p per ticket, with two prizes each week (and this money to be kept for the Club), and there will be three prizes with the bingo. By December nine members had joined and on Friday the 10th there was an excellent Christmas dinner at Caffi Glan Dwr, which belongs to the Swimming Pool in Harlech. Everyone with their colorful hat was in a good mood and the food was worth it.

The Christmas dinner in December and the afternoon tea during the summer, are annual occasions - to be held in different places to eat. This year we received a grant from Gwynedd Council for older people in the area to encourage them to rejoin and go out to socialize once again. It is also possible to play table tennis in the Hall, but there is trouble in setting the table up and taking it down - I wonder if we can attract a man or two to join us to get a bit of arm strength, and of course to have a bit of fun. New members are warmly welcome to join the Club at any time.
